Okan University with its vision of innovative and leading “World University” to respond to industry and business needs in international standards, aims not only to create know-how and also implements and turn to commercial value in the pathway to become a 4th generation university.

One of the missions of the Okan University is to be a leader in creating solutions of social life problems via cutting-edge research. Okan University, promotes the new technologies and inventions with a mission of conducting research which is beneficial for the society and leverage the quality of life.

There are a total of 8 Faculties: Faculty of Education, Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Science; Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Faculty of Dentistry, and Faculty of Medicine in Okan University, also a total of 2 vocational schools and 3 graduate schools. Okan University pursues multi-disciplinary international collaborations in research and education with its 89 academic departments and 11 research centers. The faculty and researchers with a wide range of expertise are engaged in cutting-edge research at these multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary research centers and laboratories in order to create solutions to the problems of humankind.

Major strategic research areas of Okan University has been identified by the “Strategic Research Council”, and aimed to setup centers of excellence to conduct advanced technological research together with the leading industry and forming clusters in those areas. Intelligent & Green Vehicles and Geo-synthetics technologies were selected as to build centers of excellence.
