Renewal of mandate for ERC council members

Today (19 December) the mandate of three members of the ERC Scientific Council since 2014, has been renewed.

Members of the ERC are proposed by an independent Identification Committee and appointed by the European Commission.

The renewal by the European Commission means the members will serve for another two years.

The three members whose mandate has been renewed are: Professor Nils Stenseth, a research professor in ecology and evolution and chair of the Centre of Ecological and Evolutionary Synthesis (CEES) at the University of Oslo, Norway; Martin Stokho, professor of philosophy of language at the Institute for Logic, Language and Computation (ILLC) and the Department of Philosophy at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands; and Michel Wieviorka, professor at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (Paris) and chair of Fondation Maison des sciences de l’homme, France.

The ERC Scientific Council, composed of 22 distinguished scientists and scholars representing the European scientific community, sets the ERC strategy, selects the peer review evaluators and promotes innovative research.
